Pay Yourself First, Then Live on What is Left
People who have built wealth didn’t do so overnight. They became wealthy by first setting goals and by striving to reach them with discipline. Saving is also a habit, it can be developed, you can program yourself to make saving and investing a priority. You can teach yourself not to spend more than you can earn. To get to the habit of saving money every month, immediately take a percentage of your monthly income and then pay yourself first and put it in a savings account that you don’t allow yourself to touch. Just keep saving every month and keep building that account until you’ve saved enough to move it into something that will earn you more interest. Most people do things in reverse; they spend first, and then save what is left. But most of the time there is nothing left, so there’s nothing left to save. Most people wait to start saving until they have some extra money lying around. But it doesn’t work like that. You have to start saving and investing for your future now. The earlier you start, the more you can save, the more you can invest and the sooner you will reach financial independence. Investing 10% - 15% of your income will help you achieve your long term goals. Just be sure to pay yourself first, then live on what is left. Doing this will force you to save and build your own fortune and if you want to buy more, use more and do more, it will force you to find ways to earn more money to afford it.
